What’s New: 

• Received the following Note from Bill Marrs regarding the range situation at Dundee
  Mark,  Just got home from the special board meeting at Chehalem Valley Sportsmans Club (CVSC).  Looks like things are moving along fairly quickly on the range redo.   
  The June match at Dundee is cancelled. The range will be a construction zone, with no range building and all our props packed away.
  
  On Saturday June 5th, CVSC is having a work party for the purpose of getting everything out of the range building, and consolidating everything into the containers. 
  We will be moving all the USPSA props that we can not get into the containers to Bay 4 in the bottom.  Any help would be appreciated. I will be there by 8 AM.

• We received this note from Norm and Shaun:
  Shaun and I are going to be stepping down at the end of the year as TCGC IPSC directors. We are looking for someone, (preferably two folks) to replace us. The requirements are that you be a TCGC member in good standing and you are willing to give back to the sport. The pay is zero but the appreciation by match participants is eternal. We are willing to train the team replacing us starting in the 4th quarter, and TCGC Board approval will be required.
  
  An additional note, the TCGC directors are also members of the Columbia-Cascade BOD.

• There will be a GSSF match at TCGC June 5-6 Chuck is looking for RO's, contact him at chuck@andersontactical.com.  There are lots of benefits to working the match and you can shoot and work the same day. 
   
• The Area 1 match is filling quickly.  Sat/Sun slots are full.  They are also holding a Junior Camp in conjunction with the Area 1 on June 25, 2010.  For more info and to sign up go to www.idahouspsa.com.  There will be top notch instruction available.
   
• July 31st Tri-County will host the Northwest Regional Championship for the Ruger Rimfire Series.  For folks unfamiliar with this type of shooting it’s similar to Steel Challenge type stages.  Each shooter will use a Rifle and a Handgun in .22lr to complete the stages.  Stages are limited to no more than 10 rounds each.  You do not have to use a Ruger to compete, any .22 pistol and rifle will do. • July 31 there will be an IPSC style match at Wolverton 7 stages.  More info is here.
   
• We received the following note from Tom Chambers:

  Hey Mark,

  I would appreciate if you could put a short blurb in the newsletter for me. I'm retiring and will be leaving on June 9th
  for a place we just bought east of Cheyenne, WY. Brianna just got a job there.  I'd like to say thanks for all of the support I've gotten from all of the folks that I've worked and shot with over the many years I've been in the CCS. I look forward to seeing them at Area 1 and the Nationals in Las Vegas this year. Cheyenne currently doesn't have a practical shooting group so the closest place is near Greeley, CO, in Area 2.

 Other News: 

• A new member of the Columbia Cascade Section, Bruce Walker, has created a nice tool for viewing your results at a single match or over series of matches.  The tool can be found at http://www.bdwalker.net/ipsc/MatchResults/.  This tool uses the scores as posted on the various websites, however, it gives some detail not readily discernable from the straight posting of scores.  In addition, Bruce has a Forum for NW Shooters at http://ipscnw.ning.com/.
  The dates for the CCS Championships match have been reset to Aug 7-8 at Tri-County (TCGC).
   

• USPSA made some rule changes that took effect March 1, 2010.  The summary is here.

• Dan Carpenter has stepped up to run the training matches at DRRC (Douglas Ridge) so the matches will continue.

• COSSA Practical Shooters has reduced its USPSA match program to bare minimum levels for the remainder of 2010. CPS will conduct a two-stage Level 1 match on the second Saturday April through October. There will be a classifier and a field course. The match will be held about 12:00 noon or thereabouts following the Ruger Rimfire steel match.
  
  Why did CPS make this drastic reduction? The IPSC program has suffered very low participation over the last two years. The recession has hit the Bend area very hard. Formerly active classified USPSA shooters have moved from the area or severely curtailed their shooting. Last year the CPS matches would only draw about six or seven shooters, most of whom had no interest in joining USPSA and getting classified.
  
  The good news is that CPS looks forward to better days and plans to maintain its USPSA affiliation. We will run this small program to keep the discipline alive in this part of the state. We continue to schedule a very active action shooting program with Steel, IDPA, Rimfire Steel, Precision Rifle and a couple of short multi-gun matches for 2010. USPSA shooters are always welcome to shoot with CPS when they come to Bend. Be sure to bring your .22 rifle and pistol for the Rimfire Steel match. The CPS schedule can be accessed at www.oregonsportshooting.com.
   
• The CCS 2008 Safety / Training manual is on the website under CCS Business.

Training:

 Note any of the classes below may be cancelled if a conflict with a major event occurs.  

• The Safety Manual is posted on the website.  Look under CCS Business.
• The first Saturday of each month at Albany is a new USPSA shooters training. You must call ahead (541-619-0038). Next class is June 5th.
• The first Saturday of each month at Douglas Ridge there is a USPSA style training match.  The match includes a safety session before the match and coaching during the match.  Next match is July 3rd, no match in June.
• The first Saturday of each month at TCGC is the certification course which meets the CCS requirement for training as well as the TCGC requirement for members to shoot unaccompanied in the pistol pits.  The May and July Classes are full (there are no classes in June or Aug due to schedule conflicts).  Next available class is September 4.  Registration for the class is handled by email only at the following address: trico.ipsc@gmail.com
